Brazilian Zouk is a Latin dance that emerged in Brazil in the early 1990s, evolving from Lambada — a popular Brazilian dance — and incorporating influences from various other national styles and rhythms. It can be danced to many genres of music, such as modern pop, traditional Zouk music, and Brazilian genres like Lambada.
Today, Brazilian Zouk is one of the fastest-growing social dances globally, with vibrant communities growing in most major cities. The basics of Zouk is easy to learn, but with enough technical depths that reward a lifetime of practice.
Founded in 2025, Zouk a Paixão (literally "Zouk the passion", or passion for Zouk) is a dance community created by dancers to share their love of Brazilian Zouk, and to create a home for this unique and beautiful dance here in Alabama.
Zouk a Paixão offers weekly classes and monthly social dances in Huntsville, Alabama, with the goal of fostering a warm and welcoming community built on the shared values of inclusion, safety, and personal growth.
