Every Thursday from 6:30-7:30pm, Zouk a Paixão teaches an all-levels class
Our home studio is Saturn Jive Dance Space, a dance studio inside Lowe Mill dedicated to the preservation and presentation of culturally significant dances. We operate under the studio's policies, meaning that students make payments to Saturn Jive, and follow Saturn Jive on social media for news of any studio closures that may impact availability of our classes. Are your classes beginner-friendly? I've never danced Zouk before
Yes! We would love to introduce you to this dance from the ground up!
Do I need to bring a dance partner?
Nope! While Zouk is a partner dance, it is also a social dance. We dance Zouk to meet new people and make new friends, so coming by yourself is actually very normal!
Do I need to bring anything special with me (dance shoes etc.)?
Not at first! You can walk on in in your street shoes and you'll be fine for your first few months. Over time you may find that you'd prefer to be able to pivot on the dance floor more easily, and at that point you might want to invest in some specialized dance shoes. Just bring a water bottle!
How much do classes cost?
We run our classes following Saturn Jive's studio policy, offering one-hour classes for $15 (or $10 for students). The studio offers many other dance classes, as well as memberships for frequent dancers. Visit their website for more information!
Can I register for my first class online?
We run our classes following Saturn Jive's studio policy, so the studio handles payments for classes for us. Our students typically pay at the door via cash or Venmo. But if you'd like to RSVP and let us know you're coming, we'd love to hear from you! Feel free to shoot us a message using our Contact page, and we can answer any questions you may have before you show up.
